Figher/Lover (TO): Hear Audio
Fighter/Lover is a heart pounding, [d]ance-electro-pop-punk band from Toronto. At a table full of music aficionados, the style might be described as "many strands of simplicity holding up a puppet, seemingly with complex thoughts and emotions." Or on the dance floor it might be series of barely audible proclamations such as "This is #@*5&! Great!"

Cities Turn to Sand, an ambient/rock/instrumental band, continue their streak of only playing shows on Queen Street in Kingston. With out of control gas prices, the band is steadfast on taking shows only within walking distance. "We were offered opening spots at the K Rock Centre, for the Tragically Hip and Anne Murray" comments Adam Weaver. "But being one block north of Queen, we had to respectfully decline the offer."

You can hear CTTS play their songs about Ninja Turtles and beer on July 25th at Modern Fuel.

On Saturday July 26, Kingston's own TimKnightUs will perform an original live score to a screening of the classic film "2001: A Space Odyssey."

The venue has some chairs, but feel free to bring your own comfortable seating.

About the Music:

The popular atmospheric noise audio band TimKnightUs features Kingston musicians Trimmer, Lamppost and o1sound. Taking its name from the hearing loss condition known as tinnitus, this band presents fascinating sounds (featuring guitar, keys, various sounds and theremin) with a sense of humour.

The members of TimKnightUs will be performing in Tone Deaf 7, Modern Fuel's annual festival of adventurous sound performances (October 2008). This year's festival is devoted to showcasing artists from craft labels -- such as the members of TimKnightUs (signed to Apple Crisp Records.)

About the Film:

A mind-bending sci-fi symphony, Stanley Kubrick's landmark 1968 epic 2001: A Space Odyssey pushes the limits of narrative and special effects toward a meditation on evolution, technology, and humanity. (139 minutes)
